BILL & AVIS
RILL
Bill & Avis both graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College
in St. Peter, Minnesota in 1959 where Bill also played football.
Bill subsequently pursued his Funeral Service Education
and relocated to Port Orchard in 1963 joining the staff
at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home. Bill & Avis bought
the funeral home in 1970 and built the new Rill Chapel facility
in 1992. Both are semi-retired - Avis working 2 days a week
and Bill works on an as needed basis. Sons Mark & David
are both involved full-time managing the family owned funeral
home and Sunset Lane Cemetery.
DAVID RILL
David is the youngest son of the Rill Family. A 1989 graduate
of the University of Washington Business School, David was
an Academic All-American Linebacker and team captain for
the UW Huskies football team. He also attained a Funeral
Service Education Degree and served his apprenticeship with
Green Funeral Home in Bellevue, Washington. David joined
the family-owned Rill Chapel in 1993 as a Funeral Director/Embalmer
and also serves as President for Sunset Lane Cemetery. He
married Lori Bittleston in 1995 and they are expecting their
first child the April 1997.
RAMON WRIGHT
The son of a Montana Funeral Director, Ramon was no stranger
to the industry. He graduated in 1975 from Ricks College
in Rexburg, Idaho and relocated to Washington State, where
he attained his Funeral Service Education degree. Ramon
joined the Rill family as an apprentice in 1983 and has
served continuously with Rill Chapel as a Director/Embalmer
since then. He is the Health and Safety Compliance Officer
for the funeral home & crematory, and also our facilities
maintenance manager. Ramon, his wife Alana and their four
children reside in Port Orchard.
MARK & PAM RILL
The oldest son of the Rill Family, Mark graduated from Pacific
Lutheran University in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration
where he also played football. After attaining his Funeral
Service Education, Mark served an apprenticeship with Green
Funeral Home in Bellevue, Washington and joined the family
at Rill Chapel in 1989. He currently serves as Operations
Manager for the funeral home. Mark married the former Pamela
Passmore in 1988 and currently they have 3 daughters. Pam
also graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a degree
in Computer Science and currently manages the Sunset Lane
Cemetery office.
LARRY & CRICKET
MEAD
Larry earned his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Administration
from San Diego State University. After serving 16 years
as Vice-President of Central Operations for a large financial
institution, Larry and his wife Cricket relocated to Washington
state in 1990 where he attained a Funeral Director License.
Larry and Cricket began their history with Rill Chapel by
facilitating our Grief Support Group, and in 1992, Larry
joined the staff as a Funeral Director involved primarily
in the areas of pre-need counseling and aftercare. As an
ordained minister, Larry also officiates services for families
that do not have a local pastor. Cricket took an early retirement
from the Federal Government and joined the office staff
in 1994. She is also an ordained minister and, together,
she and Larry both focus in the areas of bereavement and
aftercare.
Wayne Streutker
ThB, MA
Wayne is a Certified
Thanatologist. He
is Bereavement Counselor and Spiritual Caregiver for Hospice
of Kitsap County.
He is also an Associate Chaplain for Harrison Memorial
Hospital in Bremerton, WA
