The Greatest Gift of All
Akiko N. Taimanglo very peacefully passed away at her home in Port Orchard on July 23, 2026 at the age of 84. She was surrounded by numerous loved ones and held on long enough for everyone to say goodbye for her final gift to us.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother that lived life filled with happiness, laughter, and kindness and taught us the importance of hard work and treating others with respect. To reward us, she showcased her generosity through her actions to keep us all happy in various way; from recording TV shows only available in Japan on VHS tapes while visiting there, to telling us to "get stuff" from the car after an outing from the commissary. Bringing in the groceries would usually involve a surprise, ranging from fast food or a highly sought after coolest thing at the time. She always thought about us first and provided us these gifts, but she was the real treasure for all of us.
She is preceded in death by her parents Seiryo Nashiro and Tome Taira, her sister Ikuko Nashiro, and granddaughter Marissa Charel Taimanglo.
She is survived by her husband Peter R. Taimanglo; children Peter J. Taimanglo, Michelle Y. Taimanglo, Richard O. Taimanglo; grandson Jared M. Cruz, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. We will miss her dearly but know that she is on the next path of her journey.
Celebration of Life services will be held at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Avenue, Port Orchard on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 12:00pm, followed by a potluck reception.
