Alice Louise Svac, age: 100, resident of Port Orchard, died at her home on April 7, 2026. She was born on September 6, 1925, in Todd County, Minnesota. She was the youngest of four daughters of Henry and Stella (Hybl) Jedlicka, who were both the children of Czech immigrants. She grew up and graduated from Clarissa High School in 1943. On April 17, 1948 she married Glenn Svac; they were married for 53 years. They adopted two children, Charles (Chuck) and Mary, who both became the heart of her life.
Alice worked for many years for the South Kitsap School District. She loved her family, nature, and animals, and enjoyed all kinds of crafting, sewing, and needlework. She was a sports fan who followed the Washington Huskies, Seattle Mariners, and the Seattle Seahawks. Alice followed Jesus in faith and life, and attended Spirit of Life Lutheran Church in Port Orchard, Washington. Alice was a joy to all who knew her, and deeply beloved by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Chuck, and his wife, Lorraine, of Olalla, Washington; daughter, Mary (Svac) Schroeder and her husband Phil, of Tacoma, Washington; six grandchildren-Aaron, Alison, Nicole, Randall, Paul and Maureen, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband,Glenn, and her sisters Blanche, Henrietta, and Millicent.
A Celebration of Life for Alice Svac will take place on April 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home in Port Orchard. The family has asked that any memorial donations be made to Lutheran World Relief, the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library, or the American Cancer Society. All arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home and Crematory in Port Orchard.
