Barbara Elizabeth (White) Poole was born in January 1938 to Charles and Dorothy White in Yakima, Washington. She grew up in Cle Elum, attending school there through the 10th grade before transferring to Olympia High School, where she graduated in 1955.
Barbara married John Busey in 1956 and together they welcomed three children: John Busey Jr. (d), Rebecca (Busey) Holt, and Kelly Busey. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Simpson, and sisters Linda Finn and Sherry Vierra. Barbara was blessed with five grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
Throughout her life, Barbara worked in a variety of roles, including as an Escrow Officer. She was deeply involved in the Association of Professional Mortgage Women and was honored as Mortgage Woman of the Year in 1982, an achievement she cherished. In 1983, Barbara married Michael Poole of Port Orchard, Washington, and together they enjoyed many years of involvement with the Bremerton Yacht Club. They enjoyed rooting for the Seahawks and the Mariners. She enjoyed seeing pretty flowers and scenic views. “Papa Mike” preceded her in death in 2000, after which Barbara moved to Gig Harbor, Washington.
Barbara spent her final 14 years at The Lodge at Mallards Landing, where she formed meaningful friendships and greatly appreciated the staff and residents. She faced several medical challenges with remarkable resilience. Barbara left us at the age of 88 with a strong mind, a steadfast faith, and a profound sense of peace.
An Open House Celebration of Life will be held at The Lodge at Mallard’s Landing (7083 Wagner Way, Gig Harbor, WA) on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. There will be a short program at 1:30 p.m.
