Bernhard Franklin Hagardt, of Port Orchard, Washington, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on October 15, 1947, Bernhard lived a life of service, craftsmanship, and deep love for his family.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Bernhard served his country with honor before continuing a life of public service as a dedicated civil servant. Upon retirement, he poured his heart and skill into his lifelong passion for craftsmanship. A gifted artisan and woodworker, he created many beautiful things with his hands—including the log home he built for his family, a lasting symbol of his love and care.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debi, his children Angel, Bethany, and Samuel, and his grandchildren Belle, Janaya, and Brycen, who will carry forward the strength, creativity, and quiet wisdom he shared with them.
Bernhard will be remembered for his steady presence, his steadfast faith in God, humble spirit, and the joy he found in building and creating. His legacy lives on not only in the structures he crafted but in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at Rill Chapel on May 12th at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holly Ridge Center in Bernhard’s name.
