Brad Roland Smith was born on 4/16/55 in Ellensburg, Washington to Laura (Burbidge) and Richard Smith. He attended school in Tacoma, Washington, graduating from the Clover Park Auto Mechanics program. He spent many years working in the automative industry in various capacities, mainly as a Journeyman mechanic for Chevrolet and GM, before starting Peninsula Fleet Services in Bremerton, Washington, in 1992. Brad retired when he sold Peninsula Fleet Services in 2015.
Perpetually humble, Brad was witty, warm, and easy to be with. He was a lover of quality workmanship and held himself to some high standards for whatever project he was working on; happily sharing his expertise whenever he saw a need. Brad spent most of his free time in the great outdoors, preferably with family, friends, and his dog(s). Over the years you could find him fishing, water skiing, crabbing, camping/RVing, snowmobiling, or riding in anything else that had an engine.
Sadly, cancer took Brad after a second battle that lasted over two years. He is survived by his wife Sheila, daughters Randi Burke, Janine Smith (partner Micheal Thompson), and Christine Smith (fiancé Will Jones), Mother-in-Law Shirley Smith, Sisters Susan Jones (Frank) and Sandy James (Pete), Brothers Grant (Karen) and Mark (Diane), Grandsons Jacob and Lawson Unfred, StepGrandsons John and Luke Unfred, and 15 nieces and nephews.
A party to celebrate Brad is planned for July 19, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. The organized portion of the party will be Live-Streamed on the Rill Chapel website (rill.com) for those unable to attend in person. Lunch will be served immediately following and potluck items are welcome. Please join us to share stories and remember Brad.
