Don was a native of Lamesa, Texas. He moved to Denver, Colorado with his family at the age of 13. He left East High School in Denver, CO to enlist in the United States Navy in 1960 at the age of 17. Don advanced through the enlisted ranks to MM1/E6. In 1970 Don was appointed Warrant Officer and achieved the rank of CWO3. He married the love of his life, Kimiko Kadowaki August 1st of 1975. Don was commissioned in 1976 and rose through the officer ranks.

Don embraced Japanese culture and loved Japan so much that he extended his tour there for nine years. He learned the Japanese language and explored the country and customs with his wife Kimiko.

Don served the Navy proudly for 23 years of which 7 years and 25 days were spent at sea. In 1962 he participated in the Cuba Naval Blockade and also served in the Vietnam War. He settled in Port Orchard, WA before retiring from the U.S. Navy as LCDR/O4 in 1983.

After retiring from the Navy, Don worked as a contractor traveling across the Nation to work at various nuclear power plants in Massachusetts, Illinois, North Carolina, and Kansas before starting a third and final career with Boeing. After working for Boeing for nine years, Don officially retired from the workforce in 2006.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid gun enthusiast, frequently visiting the local shooting range. He loved reloading his own ammunition keeping meticulous notes on favorite loads and calibers.

Don was always more than generous with his money ensuring his family, extended family, and close friends were provided for, as well as saving for his grandson's college education. Don loved his family but most of all his wife Kimiko. He will truly be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Kimiko, his son Morgan of Midway Ga, daughter in law Jaime and grandson Keenan. Don was preceded in death by his father Rueben, mother Eula Mae and his brother Doug.

ドンはテキサス州ラメサの出身でした。13歳の時に家族と共にコロラド州デンバーへ移住し、1960年、17歳の時にデンバーのイースト高校を中退してアメリカ海軍に入隊しました。ドンは下士官として昇進を重ね、最終的に一等機関兵（MM1/E6）の階級に達しました。1970年には准士官に任官され、准士官3級（CWO3）まで昇進しました。そして1975年8月1日、生涯の伴侶となる門脇君子さんと結婚しました。1976年には士官に任官され、その後も順調に昇進を重ねていきました。

ドンは日本の文化を深く愛し、日本という国に心底惚れ込んでいたため、現地での勤務期間を延長し、合計9年間にわたり日本に滞在しました。彼は日本語を習得し、妻の君子さんと共に日本の各地を巡り、その風習や文化を深く探求しました。

ドンは23年間にわたり海軍に誇りを持って尽くし、そのうち7年と25日を洋上での任務に費やしました。1962年にはキューバ海上封鎖作戦に参加したほか、ベトナム戦争にも従軍しました。その後、ワシントン州ポートオーチャードに居を構え、1983年に海軍中佐（LCDR/O4）として退役しました。

海軍退役後、ドンは請負業者として全米各地を飛び回り、マサチューセッツ、イリノイ、ノースカロライナ、カンザス各州の様々な原子力発電所で勤務しました。その後、3度目にして最後のキャリアとして、ボーイング社に入社しました。ボーイング社で9年間勤務した後、2006年に正式に職場を離れ、引退生活に入りました。

ドンは狩猟や釣りを趣味とし、熱心な銃愛好家でもあったため、地元の射撃場へ足繁く通っていました。また、自ら弾薬を装填（リロード）することに情熱を注ぎ、お気に入りの装薬量や口径について、几帳面に詳細な記録を残していました。

ドンは常に惜しみない気前の良さで周囲に接し、家族や親族、親しい友人たちが生活に困ることのないよう物心両面から支えました。また、孫の大学進学資金を貯蓄するなど、将来を見据えた備えも怠りませんでした。 ドンは家族を深く愛していましたが、とりわけ妻のキミコを何よりも大切にしていました。彼がいなくなってしまったことを、誰もが心から惜しむことでしょう。

遺族は、連れ添って51年になる妻のキミコ、ジョージア州ミッドウェイ在住の息子のモーガン、義理の娘のジェイミー、そして孫のキーナンです。なお、父のルーベン、母のユーラ・メイ、そして兄のダグは、すでにドンに先立って他界しています。
