Edward James Panfili was born to Edward Panfili and Vivian Irene McGuffie in Monterey, CA on December 6, 1949. He was raised in Napa, CA and graduated from Napa High School in 1967.
He met his wife Evelyn in the Napa High School Marching Band. They married in 1970 while Edward was working as a journeyman machinist.
He served in the US Air Force from 1971 to 1975. While in the Air Force, he was stationed for two years at the NATO base in Keflavik, Iceland. In 1976, the family relocated to Port Orchard, WA where Edward started working towards his Certified Financial Planner degree through the College of Financial Planning in Denver, CO. He started his own business, Panfili Financial Services, in the early 1980’s, providing wealth management and financial advising to clients up and down the west coast for over forty years. He was honored to serve his many clients, whom he considered an extension of his family.
Edward was an avid amateur musician and artist who sang in barbershop quartets and choruses before taking up the piano at age 50. A devout Christian with a strong faith, he loved the Lord and enjoyed playing hymns on the piano and worshipping at church, especially during the holidays with family. He would perform monthly with Evelyn at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, including special Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs. He also learned harmonica in order to add a fun, happy sound to some of his wife’s vocals.
Spending part of each of the last three years in Texas allowed Edward the opportunity to share his love of woodworking with his grandsons, crafting many scroll saw projects together. His other interests included drawing, kayaking, riding Harleys, sailing and playing poker with his buddies. Edward and Evelyn traveled extensively, visiting countries in Africa, Europe, North and South America, and even Antarctica!
Edward deeply cherished his family and was extremely proud of all of his children. He is survived by Evelyn, his beloved wife of 55 years, his sister Sandra Carden, his five children, Aaron (Margo), Stephanie (James), Lauren (Alberto), Zachary and Hilary (Chuck), and six grandchildren: Audrey and Vanessa Panfili; Madison, Grant, Evan and Jacob Chang.
His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Zachary Brochu, as well as the medical team (especially Nurse Lois) of the Neuro Critical Care Unit at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA, for their kindness and compassion in his final days.
To honor his life and legacy, a Celebration of Life service will be planned for early 2026 in Port Orchard, WA.
