Eleanor (Ele) Roberts

Eleanor Roberts (Atwood), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 79 years old.

She was born to Everett and Lucitta Atwood on November 26, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest of nine children. As a teenager, she moved to Richland, Washington, to live with her sister Ida, graduating Columbia High school in 1965, beginning a life that would take her to many places but always keep family at the heart of it.

She married her high school sweetheart, Milo Hagemeier, and together they had two children, Dawn and Dan. Following their divorce, she married Jim Roberts in 1974, and they welcomed two more children, Katie and James. As the family traveled around the country with the Navy, she was the steady presence who made every new place feel like home.

Family was Mom’s greatest source of pride and joy. She devoted many years to raising her four children and later became a proud grandmother to twelve grandchildren. She eventually began working as a paraeducator with the Central Kitsap School District, where her caring nature and desire to help young children continued to be a part of her life.

Mom had a lifelong love of animals. Dogs, cats, birds, and even the neighborhood raccoons could count on her kindness. She was always willing to put out food for a hungry animal and had a special soft spot for anything that needed a little extra care.

She was happiest enjoying the simple things: working in her yard, puttering around her home, gathering family together, and spending time at the lake house with the people and animals she loved

Mom will be remembered for her laughter, her hard work, her stubborn streak, her generous heart, and her unwavering love for her family. Although Alzheimer’s took away much in her final years, it could never erase the life she lived or the love she gave.

We will remember her in the stories we tell, the memories we share, the family she brought together, and all the little things that remind us of her.

She was Mom, and she was deeply loved.

She will be missed, but never forgotten.

She leaves behind her husband Jim, of 51 years, four children, Dawn, Dan, Katie, and James; twelve grandchildren; and countless people whose lives were touched by her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all eight siblings.

Funeral Mass will be held on August 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church located at 1171 NE Sand Hill Rd, Belfair, WA 98528
