Elizabeth June Ashton

Jun 19, 1935 — Aug 16, 2026

Port Orchard

Elizabeth was born in Donnybrook, North Dakota. She was one of Hannah and Samuel Blackwood’s six children. The family moved to Washington State in 1942. She attended elementary and high school in South Kitsap. She was a member of the high school twirling baton drillteam.

As a young adult she lived in France. She had many stories and wonderful memories of her time there. After several years in France, she returned to Washington and called it home for the rest of her life. She held jobs at UGN in Seattle, KBRO in Bremerton, and Kitsap County District Court for 30 Years.

Elizabeth danced and sang her way through life. From attending local dances as a kid held at Horseshoe Lake to dancing Tangos at the Bremerton Elks Club. She did that and everything in-between. If music was playing, she was moving. She was a proud member of the Sunshine Singers of Bremerton.

He beloved husband, Stephen Ashton preceded her in death in 2020. She is survived by her children, Shelley York (Carl) and Kenneth Nordby. She loved gathering for holidays and spending time with her grandchildren, Samantha (Evan), Megan (Jimiko), Craig (Julia) and Errick. Her eight great grandchildren brought her much joy in recent years. Jeff and Sue Ashton were so helpful with her care and support.

Her family will always remember her good nature, her love of nice things, her dancing, wearing berets and always having a full candy dish of caramels. She will be missed.
