Gary Dean Blanchard of Sunnyslope, WA passed away on October 1, 2025. Gary was born on August 12, 1940 in Camas, Washington to Willie Raymon Blanchard and Verda Mae (Mower) Blanchard. Gary attended South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, WA and graduated in 1958 from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, WA.
Gary proudly served in the United States Air Force and was also in the USAF Reserves. He worked at PSNS and retired from Federal Service in 1997 at Bangor, WA where he was a training instructor for many years. Gary was an avid car buff and in his spare time, he repaired and restored many old-time vehicles. He also enjoyed “tinkering” on his “farm” in Sunnyslope with two of his grandsons, Justis and Jameston, and his great-grandson, Georgie.
While serving his country in Alconbury, England, he met and married the love of his life, Margaret Anne Blanchard (Rome) on September 26, 1964. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his father Willie, his mother Verda and his brother Bill.
He is survived by his four children, Juliette (Blanchard), Moira (Bressi), Robert (Blanchard) and Jeanette (Blanchard) as well as his 10 grandchildren (Toneaka, Eddie, Ashlea, Angelique, Pharoah, Sharrell, Anna, Meghan, Justis and Jameston), 9 great-grandchildren (Juliette Dawn, King Kyle, Neveah, KK, KJ, KiKi, Kyle, George and Luka), his sister Mary (Erickson) and many, many nieces and nephews here in the US as well as the UK.
Gary was loved by all who knew him for his kindness, his generosity, his friendship and his funny sense of humor. He kept the nurses and doctors who took care of him laughing – one of his favorites sayings when you asked him how he was is “all right on one side”!
