Harriet Lynne
Miles
January 12, 1940 – April 25, 2026
Abundant Life Foursquare Church
Starts at 10:30 am (Pacific time)
Harriet Lynne Miles ("Lynne", "Mom") of 419 Sroufe St., Port Orchard, WA, went to heaven on Saturday, April 25, at 9:45 p.m. at the age of 86 after complications from a stroke. She went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by family and love.
Lynne, or Mom, as she was affectionately known, was a blessing and a joy to all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was marked by an intense love for Jesus Christ; she shared the good news of the Gospel with everyone she knew (and with many she met only in passing) and was a shining example of the love of Christ.
Lynne was preceded to heaven by her parents Chase and Eleanor Allison, her sister Carol Ann Eggert, and her son Michael Aaron Smith (known as Aaron), who passed away in 1990 at the age of 16.
Those left missing Lynne are her loving husband Richard (Dick) L. Miles; her daughter Allison Kent; her son Jimmy Moore and wife Cheryl; her daughter Leslie Lake and husband David; her step-daughter Colleen Miles; her grandchildren Josiah Weathers, Caleb Weathers, Silas Weathers, Lindsay Lake, Zachary Lake; her step-grandchildren Christina Greenamyre, Nick Iverson, Melissa Iverson; adopted grandson Balue Duarte and wife Anna, and so many more family and friends.
Born on January 12, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, Lynne was a very talented artist in multiple mediums and particularly enjoyed working in pastels. She loved music, especially live music. She was a globetrotter before settling down in Kitsap County. There she worked as a postal carrier, where she met her husband, Richard L. Miles, at the Port Orchard Post Office. They married in 1987 and were a beautiful example of Christ-centered love.
In the ‘90s, following the loss of their son Aaron, Lynne and Richard opened and operated Newsong Coffee House, a youth outreach center. Known affectionately as “Mom and Pops,” they served free PB&J sandwiches, $1 nachos, and handmade milkshakes, while offering pinball, foosball, pool tables, darts, chess boards, and live Christian music on Friday nights. Their greatest goal was to provide a safe, fun place for young people where they felt genuinely cared for and heard the good news of Jesus; and to this endeavor they poured their hearts, time, and resources.
Lynne was a Christian who loved Jesus with all her heart, and this was evident in how she loved people; so many felt her love, not least of all her family, who miss her very much.
Lynne attended Abundant Life Foursquare Church, at 5610 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, Washington.
A celebration of Lynne’s life will be held there on Saturday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow.
Any photos, notes, etc., are encouraged to be brought to share on Lynne’s table of remembrance.
