Jack Gordon Larsen passed away on Saturday the 21st of March, 2026 at the wonderful young age of 96. He was preceded by his bride of 53 years and love of his life as well as best friend, Margaret Irene LaDu Larsen, his parents Roy Earle and Romilda Amelia and all of his older and younger siblings, Jeanne, Jim, Gary and Helen as well as all of his lifelong school and university friends, fellow Marines, golf partners, and club, volunteer and work colleagues. He is survived by each of his children, grand children and great grand children, Jana, Gary, Matt, Amanda, Nora, Carl, Debbie, Conrad, Joel, Anh, Grace, Mercy, Jonathan, Patty, Abe, Joshua, Matthew, Jessica, Mike, Treva, Lynn, Michelle, Josh, Emery, Hadley, Lainey, Bennett, Holly, James, Jenny, Mark, Cris, Susan, Julie, Arnel, Brittany, Michael, Alex, Leslie, Margot, Mason, Elizabeth and many many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.
Jack was an active member and participated in the inception of Saint Thomas More Parish and School, he was an active lifetime member and Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus, a member of Kitsap Golf and Country Club, and a member of the Washington State Seniors Golf Association as well as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Jack and his lovely bride retired to Yakima after raising their children in the Puget Sound, where they enjoyed an active life of biking, golfing, traveling, volunteering at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, and taking up new hobbies and classes in photography and painting as well as taking an interest in the geology of the region while attending Central Washington University field trips. Jack was an avid painter, and in later years would create his Christmas cards out of one of his pieces. After Margaret’s passing he spent his last ten years back in Bremerton near his children where he joined the Bremerton Swim and Tennis Club and Planet Fitness to keep his body mobile, fit and strong. He was known as a hero by many at his gyms, as well as his healthcare teams who wished more would follow his example. Jack exercised up to the day he passed, even at home, and on that day he got in two workouts.
For those who were blessed to see it the night he passed, the moon was a crescent at just the right angle to look like a giant smile from heaven as he was smiling down on us. The following morning, Mount Rainier, the Cascades and the Olympics were out in all their glory and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom as if heaven, itself, is celebrating His homecoming as well as his much anticipated reunion with Mom.
Dad was so full of love for each and every one of us. He knew everyones favorite hobbies and activities as well as every *thing* and every *one* that was important to us. He made sure he kept apprised of our goings on and loved the calls, pictures, videos and especially FaceTime with each of us to see our smiles and hear our laughter. No matter who visited he would recall the many varied memories of all the new family news as well as the legacy stories with whomever was present or had called.
Jack was an amazing father who embodied love and each of his loved ones knew they had his full love, support and encouragement. He loved to cheer each of us on and embolden us to be the best version of ourselves. He led by example and loved to pass on all the knowledge he acquired throughout his lifetime to empower the next generations. He loved teaching the quality of a good full life, a good friendship, a good date, a good marriage, being a united couple, investing in lifelong relationships and creating memories together. He had a very positive nature and was loved by many. It didn’t matter where in the world he was, he would always run into people he knew. He was happiest when all his family were gathered together. We are so very thankful for each and every precious moment we had him in our lives and will continue to carry on his great legacy of deep love and friendship.
Our thanks, love and deep appreciation go out to each of you who have been alongside us on this journey and hope and pray we continue to connect as well as he taught. God bless!
To those who are interested in donations, the family requests they be made to your local Veterans Association, Knights of Columbus, The Blue Bills in Kitsap County who put in safety equipment, and your local Fire Department and EMT’s with appreciation.
