Janet Louise
Fairweather
June 18, 1936 – April 15, 2026
Janet Louise Fairweather was born on June 18, 1936, in Walla Walla to Lois Oleta (Holloway) Farrens and Felix Robert Farrens. She grew up in Walla Walla and graduated from high school there in 1954 before attending Eastern Washington University. It was there that she met the love of her life, George A. Fairweather.
Jan and George were married on September 18, 1955, beginning a partnership filled with adventure, devotion, laughter, and deep family ties. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until George’s passing in December 2007. Together they built a life shaped by military service, friendship, and family, living in many places over the years including Noxon, Tacoma, Petaluma, Panama, McChord Air Force Base, Hamilton Air Force Base, Walla Walla, Port Angeles, and Port Orchard, Washington.
Jan embraced every chapter of life with warmth and resilience. She worked as a bookkeeper for Wade’s Clothing and the WW Officers Club, and later served as a secretary for Hayward Insurance in Port Orchard. Wherever she lived, she formed lasting friendships and gave generously of her time and heart.
She was an active member of the Soroptimists of Bremerton, the Seattle Children’s Orthopedic Guild, and the chimes choir at First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard. Jan especially loved being surrounded by people, whether singing, volunteering, traveling, or gathered around a card table with family.
After retirement, Jan and George spent seven years RV traveling across the country, visiting family and making memories from the Pacific Northwest to the East Coast. They cherished winters in Arizona with dear friends, golfing, bicycling, and enjoying the sunshine before returning home each summer to be with family. One especially treasured trip was visiting England, where their son Scott and his wife Cindy were stationed at Upper Heyford with the United States Air Force.
Jan found joy in life’s simple pleasures: golf, bowling, cooking for those she loved, and spirited card games with family. Her home was always welcoming, her laughter easy, and her love for her family constant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, George A. Fairweather, in December 2007; and her son, William Scott Fairweather, who passed away on February 10, 1979.
Jan is lovingly remembered by her sons, James R. Fairweather (Nancy) and Douglas G. Fairweather (Kathryn); her grandchildren Alexandra (Marcus) Bahny, Victoria, Bradley (Sarah), Elyse (Mike) Jauregui, and Samantha (Corey) Noriega; and her great-grandsons Marcus Bahny and Wyatt Jauregui.
Though deeply missed, Jan’s family finds comfort in the many memories she created whether in road trips and family dinners, summer gatherings, laughter shared over cards, and the unwavering love she gave so freely. Her life was one of kindness, loyalty, adventure, and devotion to those she loved most.
