John Edward Taylor, 79, of Bremerton, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026.
Born July 1, 1946, in Greensburg, Indiana, to Clarence Taylor and Lucille Taylor (Tanner), John spent his early years there. He proudly served three years in the United States Navy and later worked as a painter. During his time in the Navy, he came to Bremerton, where he fell in love with his future wife and the gorgeous Pacific Northwest scenery. He chose to make this area his home.
John’s caring heart was evident in his work as a caregiver for more than fifteen years. In this role, he faithfully supported many individuals with their daily needs, offering not only help, but kindness, patience, and companionship. He made a lasting difference in the lives of those he cared for.
Outside of his work, John found joy in life’s simple pleasures—he loved dancing, listening to music, taking scenic drives, and attending Sunday church services, all of which brought him happiness and peace. He loved spending time with his precious cat, Pudding Head. Before the passing of his beloved wife, Frances, he also enjoyed spending time together at local parks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marian; his beloved wife, Frances; and his son, John Jeremy Taylor.
He is remembered by his sister, Nancy; his children, Lisa Powers, Toni Steelman, Thomas Redding, Marie Payne, and Ryan Taylor; his 12 grandchildren—Jay Jr., Justin, Amanda, Missi, Ronnie, Danielle, Mikaela, Josie, Ashley, Nicholai, Stephen, and David; and his 14 great-grandchildren—Keaton, Kelsey, Keeliegh, Liam, Grayson, Noah, Luna, Eva, Evan, Dalton, Nolan, Breille, Luna, and Ophelia.
He will be deeply missed and remembered by those who knew him.
The family will hold a small gathering in his honor in the springtime.
