Kathrena Marie Byrne, a loving wife, mom, nana, sister, and friend, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on June 26th, 2025, in Silverdale, Washington. She was 55 years old and entered eternal rest on the same day she celebrated her 15th anniversary of sobriety; a milestone that reflected her strength, perseverance, and unwavering faith.
She entered this world on May 17th , 1970, in Munich, Germany, to David S. Collins and Josephine Gray. She later graduated from Peninsula High School in 1989 and made a life marked by compassion, resilience, and joyful service to others. In 2022, she married Matthew Byrne, and together they shared a deep bond grounded in love, laughter, and faith.
Kathrena found great joy in life’s simple and beautiful gifts like cheering on the Seahawks, exploring God’s creation through hiking and nature, working in the garden, and cooking for her family and friends. Her greatest joys, however, were found in her family. She was a devoted mom to Tiahna, Kanitra, Jasmine, and Jade, and a proud nana to Madison and Ava. Her legacy of love, faith, and courage will live on in them and in all who knew her. She is also survived by her siblings David Collins, Richard (Claudia) Cady, Paul (Shona) Collins, and Kimberlie (Bob) Crosby, and many nieces and nephews. She is reunited with her father, David S. Collins, in rest.
Kathrena's journey was marked by a profound transformation through her commitment to AA, where she not only found healing, but also became a beacon of hope and support to many others walking the same path. Her life is a testimony to the redemptive power of God’s grace and mercy. Kathrena’s faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. She walked through trials with hope and shared His love freely. As we mourn her passing, we rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Heavenly Father -whole, free and renewed.
