Lawrence (Larry) Percival Rogers passed away on July 2, 2025, at his home with family at his side. He was 82 years old.
He was born in Port Angeles, Washington on March 2, 1943, to Percy and Phyllis (Peterson) Rogers.
He lived his younger childhood years between Port Angeles, Washington and Carlsbad, California where he helped work in his parents' bars and café after school.
Larry’s free spirit as a young adult kept him in Carlsbad, California for several years. He worked many jobs, began welding school, became a welding instructor, and surfed the coastal beaches with his friends.
Larry moved to Port Orchard, Washington and continued his career in welding. He traveled for work to many locations including Hawaii, San Diego, and Japan on multiple TDY trips, and eventually retired out of Shop 26 as a full-fledged journey level nuke welder from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Larry enjoyed music on his record players, model trains, fishing, nature, traveling, and his passion for classic cars cruising with his car club friends and family members. He mostly enjoyed hosting and entertaining family and friends and always loved to see people happy.
Larry is survived by his son, Sean Rogers of Hayden Idaho, Daughter Vicki Varney of Live Oak, California, and two brothers, Emery Winters of Port Angeles, Washington and Rodney Fitch of Bremerton, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Rogers, Mother Phyllis Carlson and brothers Eugene Winters, Nick Rogers, and William Rogers.
Larry was well-loved by all of his family to include multiple stepsons and stepdaughters, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, his longtime companion Betty Sammelli, as well as many great friends. Larry will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Club at 4001 Jackson Ave SE in Port Orchard, Washington on Sunday September 21st from 12-3 PM. Bring your classic car or truck for special parking as well as any memories to share.
