Lila June Boyd

April 30, 1947 — January 23, 2023

Lila June Boyd (Gross) (75) passed away peacefully in the arms of her family on Monday January 23rd, 2023 after an extended illness. She was born in Ontario, OR and raised in Fruitland, ID. Lila married the love of her life, Bruce Boyd of Payette, ID on September 23, 1967. This was a love match that was instant - the very first night they knew they found "the one". They moved to Bremerton, WA to start their life together and have remained in the area their entire marriage. Bruce and Lila raised two children: Stephanie M Dormann (Boyd) and Camron Michael Boyd.

Lila was a dental assistant until she chose to start an in-home daycare so her children would be properly cared for. She continued the career of her heart for over 33 years and helped care for her two oldest grandsons, Jarod V Curtis, & Tylor A Boyd. She then went to work part-time as the office manager for her daughter Stephanie's Primerica Financial office in Bremerton and then Belfair where she continued to work until this recent illness.

Lila loved her family fiercely and always wanted her kids to stay nearby and never move away from her. She got her wish and was able to be very active in their lives and more importantly to her, her grandsons' lives. The family remains very close and both her children currently live on adjacent properties to their parents in Belfair - the "Family Compound".

Bruce and Lila were married for over 55 years and set an incredible example for their children and so many others. They were able to travel when Bruce retired from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and had many wonderful experiences. They have lived a very full life, full of adventures like swimming with the dolphins, releasing baby turtles to the sea, cruises, camping, following her daughter cross country for sports, and numerous different beautiful destinations.

She was the best bargain shopper ever born! Nothing made her happier than getting a bargain - garage sales, clearance sales, haggling with vendors, picking walnuts or fruit for free, etc. etc. etc. She successfully passed that gift down to her children, especially her son.

Lila was a very artistic lady, making most of her young daughter's clothes as well as her mother's and her own. She loved all sorts of crafts and was an amazing artist - be it ceramics, sewing, tole painting, woodworking, gardening, etc. She took pride in making beautiful, quality crafted works of art.

Lila was a farmgirl at heart, being raised on a farm in Idaho. Bruce & Lila bought their hobby farm in Belfair in 1982. They raised beef, chickens, and any number of misc. farm animals over the years, including many much-loved dogs and cats. She loved gardening and working hard around the property. She spent hours working side by side with her husband and mother-in-law collecting firewood, working in the vegetable garden, flower gardens, and canning. Her home canned goods and home cooked meals were amazing and were a labor of love for her family. Lila's desserts and baked goods were very popular and sought after.

Lila was an active member of TOPS 1032 Belfair. This group of ladies (& gentleman) became some of her closest friends in life. The lunches, trips, and card parties were some of her favorite times. Lila claims she wasn't competitive, but if you've ever played cards or any other game with her, you know the truth! She was an honest but fierce competitor!

Lila will be missed terribly, but she has left a legacy of loving her family fiercely, and we will continue to honor her memory. She is survived by her husband Bruce, her daughter Stephanie Dormann (SIL Mark), Son Camron Boyd (DIL Heather), and 5 grandsons: Jarod Curtis, Tylor Boyd, Tristan Warren, Collin Boyd, and Payton Arriza.
