Margaret (Margie) Lindeman Baldwin, of Woodinville and Port Orchard, WA, the eldest of four daughters of William F. and Jane R. Lindeman, passed peacefully on September 1, 2025. She was the beloved wife of 55 years to Keith G. Baldwin.
Margie was born in Lake Forest, IL, and moved with her family to Bellevue, WA in 1967. She attended Lake Forest High School and Newport High School, graduating in 1968. She graduated with a B.F.A. degree from the UW Interior Design Program in 1973, and then moved to Palo Alto, CA, where she supported Keith during his law school years. She worked for a professional interior designer, an architectural scale model company, and as the first staff artist at Sunset Magazine. On her return with Keith to Seattle in 1976, she formed her own interior design practice and served primarily residential clients until she retired in 2008. She also taught interior design classes at Bellevue College.
Most importantly, Margie was a beloved Mom and much-loved wife, as well as a mentor, organizer, and social catalyst and host of many memorable family events. Her children remember her unconditional love, her guidance and wisdom, her funny stories, beautifully decorated tables, brilliant design advice, endearingly written books, amazing Lego cake toppers, unique and thoughtful gifts, unmatched creativity and artistry as a painter and bead artist, and a million other little things that they knew and loved about her.
Throughout her career and after retiring, Margie originated and managed design projects for her own homes in Bellevue, Woodinville, Port Orchard and Lake Kachess. Margie was an author, humorist, design critic and blogger, lover of wildlife, especially birds and orcas, and landscape designer.
Margie’s commitment to her religion, Christian Science, was of utmost importance to her. She served her branch churches in reader, board, and Sunday School teacher positions. Her spiritual quest centered her entire life.
Margie was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Elizabeth and Sarah Lindeman, and her brother-in-law, David C. Baldwin. She is survived by her husband; two children, Sommer Baldwin Clement and Jordan (Libby) Baldwin, both of Tacoma; two grandchildren, Arthur and Wren; her sister, Barbara Lindeman Orr; her sister-in-law, Carole Baldwin; and by many loved nieces and nephews. She is dearly missed.
Arrangements through Rill Chapel, http://www.rill.com. A memorial celebration will be held in November in Woodinville. Please contact the family for details.
