Marie Louise Standaert, 80, died at her home in Port Orchard, Washington on June 14, 2006. She was born on January 9, 1926 in Ruiselede, Belgium to Cyrille & Alice (Van Den Bon) Vandeweghe. She married Paul Emile Standaert in Ruiselede on April 5, 1951 and they immigrated to the United States in 1952. Marie was a devoted wife and mother. She also worked as a bookkeeper & accountant for Kitsap Bank, Kitsap TV and Radio, and Holly Ridge Development Center. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard for more than 30 years. Marie loved her family and friends, gardening, sewing, and knitting. Surviving are husband Paul; sons Frank (Mary) Standaert of Minnesota and Steve (Lori Waterman) Standaert of Olympia, Washington; daughters Ann (Bill) Bowden of Seattle, Maryrose (Michael) Bellert of Seattle, Carol Standaert of Alaska, Kathleen (Dan) Benoit of Kent, Monica (Don) Askins of Issaquah, and Denise (Rich) Firman of Kent; brothers Ettienne & Huberta Vandeweghe of Belgium; sister Christiane (Paul) DePecker of Belgium; and 19 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Therese, sister Aline, and brothers George & Bertrand. Funeral Mass will be at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard on Monday, June 19, 2006 at 2:00 pm.
