Obituary

Michael "Mike" Scott Pace, age 61, passed away on January 2, 2026, in Manchester, Washington, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous batter with cancer,

Mike was born on November 20, 1964, in Wenatchee, Washington. He was a proud graduate of Ellensburg High School and Central Washington University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Loss Control Management. Mike went on to work for decades as health and safety manager for construction firms throughout the Seattle area.

In 1989, Mike enlisted in the United States Airforce, serving nearly seven years. He was stationed at bases in England and New Mexico as an intelligence analyst. In recognition of his dedicated service, the United States Airforce awarded Mike the Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Longevity Service Award.

Mike was an avid runner, cyclist, and swimmer who also spent countless hours training in the gym. He competed in track for Ellensburg High School and later for Central Washington University. One of the many highlights of his running career came in 1987, when he set the 1,500 meter record at Central Washington University, a record that still stands today.

Mike also had a deep love of travel and adventure. He especially enjoyed planning trips, finding as much joy in the preparation as in the journey itself. Along with his family, Mike traveled to warm destinations such as Hawaii, Mexico, and Tahiti, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

Above all, Mike was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Pace (Callaghan); his mother, Donna Umland (Brownell); his father, Arleigh Pace; his brothers Jeffrey and Christopher Pace; and his sons, Cody Pace and Cutter Pace.

Mike will be remembered for his sense of humor, his strength and resilience.

A service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 24, at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Ave., in Port Orchard, Washington. A reception will follow.

Mike's legacy will live on in the stories, laughter, and love shared by those who knew him.
