Nada Faye Campeau

April 10, 1935 — March 30, 2026

Nada Faye (Ogden) Campeau, 90, of Port Orchard, passed away on March 30 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma. Nada was born in a farmhouse on Big Bear Ridge in Idaho, to Van and Corrine Ogden, on April 10, 1935. She grew up an only child and spent her early years in Northern Idaho, then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where her father was a teacher. His students used to dote on her when she visited her dad’s classroom. They later moved back to Idaho, where Nada attended school in Deary for a brief time before settling in the Lewiston Orchards. She played clarinet and oboe in the school band and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1953. She became a librarian at the Carnegie Library in Lewiston and often talked about how much she enjoyed working there.

She had three marriages- the first to Dale Vallem, a dairy farmer, in 1955. They lived in Idaho and had two children, Kirk and Kim. Her second marriage was in 1963 to Ransom Bentley; they traveled across the country multiple times and lived in Washington, Idaho, and North Carolina. Together they had one child, Darcy. Lastly, she married Farell Campeau in 1971, and that marriage lasted for 42 years. Farell also had three children, but they never had any together. They moved to Southern California soon after they were married and lived there for nearly four years. They started many fun traditions, including camping on weekends. The Northwest called them back home, so they settled in Clarkston, WA, for a time, then finally moved to Western Washington in 1976, and lived in Kitsap, Pierce, and Mason Counties.

Nada was a homemaker most of her adult life, and making a home was something she really enjoyed. She loved to decorate and had a way of making old or quirky things look really neat. We always said that she should have been an interior decorator. She enjoyed gardening and had a love for small dogs and cats. Her biggest love was for her family. She loved her children fiercely and stood up for them no matter what. If there wasn’t money to be had, she would often buy gifts used and then refurbish them before giving them to her kids. She had a good eye and a knack for finding bargains!

Being active outdoors with her kids and grandchildren was important to her. She loved to walk or go to the beach to dig clams or pick oysters. She liked to fish, camp, and travel with their RV. She was an adventurer at heart and never got enough of traveling.

Eventually, she and Farell bought a janitorial company and cleaned new homes after construction. That and Farell’s stump grinding business carried them through to retirement. After they retired, they became snowbirds for several seasons, going down to Arizona for the winter. They would even travel with their cats.

Nada spent her last six years in Port Orchard to be near her daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Farell Campeau, son, Kirk Michael Vallem, grandson, Kirk Van Vallem, and great-grandson, Kayden Howell. She is survived by daughters Kim (Rick) Shattun and Darcy (Dale) Howell, grandchildren Kristy Hicks, Michelle (Ryan) Jones, Derick Shattun, Steen (Samantha) Howell, Ayla (Austin) Badertscher, Hunter (Katey) Vallem, and great grandchildren Gunner Shattun, Maralisa Badertscher, Evelyn Badertscher, Emmitt Jones, Clark Badertscher, Liam Howell, Lyla Badertscher and Grace Vallem.

Nada will be dearly missed.
