Orville DeWayne Rutledge

September 6, 1938 — August 2, 2025

Orville “Wayne” DeWayne Rutledge was born in Wichita Kansas September 6, 1938 to Abraham Rutledge and Julia Rex, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his siblings: George, Mary, Sarah, Bernard, and Joann. Wayne has five children. His two sons, Orville DeWayne Junior “Lonnie” and David Wayne preceded him in death as did his beloved wife Betty. He is survived by his three daughters Cindy Black, Melinda Meier and Andrea Rutledge as well as their children Amanda Roth, Cody Meier and Perry Boyd. He has two great grandchildren Wyatt and Reagan by Amanda. He retired as a Chief Machinist Mate after serving in the US Navy from 1955-1975. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and loved our military. He enjoyed handing out challenge coins when he would meet young sailors.

Wayne loved spending time with his family. His grandkids and great grandkids were his pride and joy. One of his favorite things to do was road trips, whether he was going to Pacific Beach, across country, or even just exploring Washington state. He and Betty had a knack for navigating back roads without ever having to get on the highway.

Later in life, Wayne and Betty enjoyed volunteering with Pastor Art with his ministry for the homeless “Taking it to the Streets.” He was well loved and will be missed by many
