Phyllis Linn Sager

Apr 27, 1942 — May 11, 2026

Phyllis Linn Sager, 84, of Bremerton, Washington, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026. To those who knew and loved her, she was simply Linn.

Linn was born on April 27, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, to Cleo Ellsworth Lanphear and Rhea Phyllis Ellis. She served proudly in the United States Armed Forces and went on to build a long career as a property manager, work she carried out with dedication for many years.

Hers was a life full of creativity. Linn painted in oils and made beautiful stained glass, and she was an avid reader of both fiction and nonfiction. She was also a gifted cook and baker. Her recipes, rooted in the necessity of feeding her family on a slim budget, are still made and enjoyed at every important holiday and gathering. She had a deep love of animals and cared for chickens, goats, cats, dogs, and a horse. She loved adventure just as much, traveling all along the West Coast from southern Mexico to Washington, and she never stopped dreaming of one day living abroad.

Linn was preceded in death by her husband, Eddwin Carter Sager, and her daughter, Leslie Ellen. She is survived by her siblings, Tracy Wythe, Craig Lanphear, and Michael Lanphear; her children, Stephen Echols and daughter-in-law Sara Echols, Grace Jones and son-in-law Andrew Jones, Emily Echols, and Kate Asar and son-in-law Amir Asar; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Linn was loved, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
