It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert John Jacobs, aged 78, who bid farewell to this world on July 5, 2026, in the loving comfort of his home in Port Orchard, Washington. Born on February 19, 1948, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Bob lived a life rich with love, laughter, and service.

The cherished son of the late Stanley and Anna Jacobs, Bob was raised in a home filled with love and strong values. He carried these principles throughout his life, sharing them with all who knew him. Bob was predeceased by his beloved parents and is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Maureen Casey Jacobs. Together, they crafted a life of adventure, living in various parts of the world during Bob’s honorable 22-year career in the United States Navy.

Bob and Maureen were blessed with two children, Vanessa (Adam) Follis and Casey (Sheri) Jacobs, who gave them the joy of six grandchildren: Christian (Coleson), Ryan, Noah, Elaina, Collin (Hailey), and Megan (Curtis). Bob took immense pride in his family, always a source of wisdom and joy, and he found endless delight in his role as a grandfather. His sister, Carol Jacobs, also survives him, and the bond they shared was one of deep affection and mutual respect.

After graduating from Enfield High School, Bob enlisted in the Navy where he served with distinction, earning the rank of Chief Petty Officer and retiring as a Lieutenant. During his service, he continued his education at the State University of New York. Following his military career, Bob applied his skills and passion for submarines at Northrup Grumman, further contributing to Naval advancements.

Bob was a man of many talents and interests. A proud and devout Catholic, he was a dedicated member of his church choir, most recently at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where he sang with enthusiasm and grace. An avid cyclist, he participated in the Seattle to Portland ride numerous times alongside his daughter, Vanessa. His love for the outdoors was evident in his frequent hiking and camping trips, and he cherished the simple pleasure of walking his dog.

Renowned for his quick wit and warm smile, Bob had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome. He saw the world’s challenges as opportunities to make a positive difference and was a beacon of positivity in every situation. His legacy of kindness, humor, and optimism will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.

A memorial service to honor Bob’s remarkable life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1171 NE Sand Hill Rd, Belfair, WA 98528, followed by a reception at their home. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating the life of a truly special man. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests making a donation in Bob's memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, reflecting his compassion and commitment to making the world a better place. As his family poignantly expresses, Bob is "Forever in our hearts and in everything we do." His spirit will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones as they honor his memory in their lives.
