Robert Eugene Southwick

February 19, 1951 — May 5, 2026

Robert “Bob” Eugene Southwick, 75, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on February 19, 1951, in Arkansas City, Kansas, and spent most of his adult life in Olalla, Washington, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and service to others.

Bob shared 56 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Annette Southwick. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and unconditional love. Bob was also a devoted father to Amy Patin (Dirk), Martin Southwick (Joanna), Mathew Southwick (Abby), Jennifer Throop (Todd), Jaime Jensen (Nick), Daniel Southwick (Jamie), and Michael Southwick (Lindsay). He was a proud grandfather to Felicia Patin, Sydnee Dismuke, Domonique Patin, Alexis Southwick, Savannah Southwick, Shaydon Southwick, Mattison Southwick, Alex Southwick, Jamelle Southwick, Myriah Throop, Robert Throop, Gabby Jensen, Elisia Small, Sofia Southwick, Jacob Southwick, Michaela Southwick, and Isabel Southwick. He was also blessed with great grandchildren Stella Patin, Layla Dismuke, and Maya Dismuke, who brought him great joy.

Bob is also survived by his sisters, June Thornbloom and Beth Southwick Osborne, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Bob dedicated his life to providing for his family through honest and hardworking trades. Over the years, he worked as a mechanic, plumber, and pipe fitter before finishing his career with Kitsap County as a Utilities Asset Manager with the Surface and Stormwater Division. He took pride in his work and earned the respect of everyone who knew him through his reliability, skill, and willingness to help others.

A gifted builder and craftsman, Bob created more than just projects. In 1987, he built the family home in Olalla where he and Annette raised their children and where the family still gathers today. The home stood as a reflection of his dedication, skill, and deep love for his family.

Faith was the cornerstone of Bob’s life. He was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where he faithfully served his community and participated in three mission trips to Mexico helping build homes and facilities for those in need. His quiet generosity, strong faith, and servant’s heart left a lasting impact on many lives.

Bob and Annette shared many dreams together and built a life centered around family. Over the last ten years, they enjoyed spending their winters at their condo in Florida, creating cherished memories together. One of Bob’s greatest joys was working with his hands. When he was not busy helping others or tackling projects around the house, he was working on the property at Lake Cushman, a place that held special meaning for both him and Annette for many years.

After years of dreaming and planning, Bob and Annette were finally able to build a home on their Lake Cushman property. It became a gathering place filled with laughter, family, and treasured memories. Summers spent there with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were among Bob’s happiest moments and reflected the deep love he had for his family.

Bob also had a deep love for travel and adventure. Together, Bob and Annette traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally, visiting 48 states and 11 countries over the years. He enjoyed experiencing new places, meeting people, and making memories wherever they went.

When Bob was home, he enjoyed cheering on the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners. Win or lose, he followed his teams faithfully and was always ready with colorful commentary when they were not playing the way he thought they should.

Bob will be remembered for his steady presence, deep love for his family, strong work ethic, and unwavering faith in God. He found happiness in time spent with family, helping others, and living a life guided by compassion and humility.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Bob will be laid to rest at Fraola Cemetery in Olalla, Washington, a community he proudly called home for most of his life.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
