Rodney Loren Korsmo, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, in Surprise, Arizona, at the age of 83.
Rod was born on December 3, 1941, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Maybelle Ruth Connor and John Korsmo. He proudly served four years in the United States Coast Guard, receiving an honorable discharge at the end of his service.
Rod spent his career in the grocery industry as a manufacturer’s representative, where he was known for his integrity, professionalism, and ever-present good humor. He truly enjoyed the people he worked with and built countless lifelong friendships throughout his career.
A man of wide interests, Rod had a deep appreciation for history, music, current events, and especially politics—always up for a good conversation and a thoughtful debate. More than anything, he cherished time with his family. He was cheerful, caring, and easygoing, with a natural ability to make those around him feel comfortable and valued.
In retirement, Rod continued giving back to the community by volunteering with the Federal Way Police Department, assisting with vehicle placement in high-theft areas to help deter crime.
Rod is survived by his loving wife of many years, Darlene “Dodie” Korsmo; his son, Kris Korsmo; and his three grandchildren: Bradley, Kacie, and Allison. He was preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother Don.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Rod’s memory to the American Cancer Society
Rod will be remembered for his kindness, warmth, and enduring optimism. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and meaningful relationships that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
