Sylvia Peterson

Sylvia Lee Peterson, 69 of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton, WA March 11, 2011.  She was born February 5, 1942 in Port Orchard to Sid Rogers & Lillian (Gordon) Redding.  She graduated from Peninsula HS in Gig Harbor and from Seattle & Olympic colleges in 1967 with an AA degree in Criminal Justice.  She married Mike Peterson on July 25, 1998 in Port Orchard. Sylvia worked for 20 years as a Secretary for PSNS and Safeco Insurance.  She was also a caregiver for Lutheran Social Services for 7 years.  She loved going to her grandkids activities and enjoyed her guinea pigs, dogs “Buddy & Dude”, gardening & shopping.  She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Port Orchard. Surviving are husband Mike; mother Ann Rogers of West Seattle; daughter Deanna (Mark) Hunter of Port Orchard; sister Rita Kiene of Farrwest, UT; grandchildren Justin Hunter of Port Orchard, Kristin Hunter of Spokane, WA & lifelong best fiend (sister) Rose (Mel) Carlson of Olalla, Wa.  She was preceded in death by son David Wayne Olund, Cousin Carol Gourlie, sister Jean Gulick & friend Betty Walker. Memorial Service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.  Final Resting Place Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
